Written Summary:
In my opinion, this
is by far the best tape in this four tape series by Chris Kent. This tape is called
"Putting It All Together " and gives the viewer a training framework to
develop what Mr. Kent calls " essential qualities" which include speed,
power, endurance, coordination, precision, balance, body feel, and awareness. Mr.
Kent talks about each of these qualities and gives training tips to develop each.
This is good stuff.
The second portion of the tape is devoted to tactics and
strategy. This was my favorite part of the entire four tape series. Mr. Kent talks
about the different types of opponents one may face and suggests strategies for dealing
with each.
The tape closes with a section on training equipment and training
methodology. While most experienced martial artists are very familiar with the different
types of training equipment mentioned, it is still informative and fun to watch.
Mr.
Kent closes with a few comments on what JKD is and what it is not. He states that
while combat is at the heart of JKD, it is not what it is all about. He quotes Bruce
Lee with the following quote " Life is combat and must be dealt with accordingly.
If you understand combat, you understand life ". I can't top that one. This
is a very good tape.
