Written Summary:

This is Stark’s final video of his 3 volume series on Submission Fighting. There is some good information on this tape for beginners. Some of the things shown are defenses to the Guillotine choke, triangle choke, Kimura’s lock, kneebar, anklelock, heelhook, and the scarfhold, Starks also covers strikes from the ground from such positions as the Mount, crossbody, scarfhold and the guard. This material is all very good for the beginner. There is also a short interview on this tape with Mr. Starks and unless your a real fan of his you won’t get much from this piece.

Also covered are Muay Thai style striking techniques. I commend Stark’s for his effort of offering the viewer a look at some striking and kicking techniques in addition to the grappling presented. Stark’s is not a great striker (those large looping hook punches and long uppercuts show his lack of true expertise in this area) but he does make a valid attempt at it. He does show the basic punches, jab, cross, hook and uppercut as well as some elbows, knees and several different kicks. Again Stark’s fail to include some of the details which would of made this tape better. For example when
Stark’s throws a jab he does tuck his chin in and protects it with his lead shoulder which is good however a beginner may not pick up on this basic but important detail. If you want to add some striking to your arsenal this tape only scratches the surface. There are definitely better striking
tapes available.

Overall a good tape for the beginning Martial Artist looking for some basic counters and strikes on the ground. Will also get a beginning person started in standup striking.
