WR Mann well known for his realfighting. Website, wwwrealfighting.com which
profiles the best of realistic combatives also teaches his own brand of
fighting in classes in New York as well as seminars worldwide. He has recently
come out with a realistic DVD, showcasing techniques that you can use unarmed
in a bar, aptly titled Essential Defenses a bar Unarmed. This DVD is more of a
review of techniques that WR does in his courses. The DVD is short in length only 11 minutes
but there are about 20 techniques here and served as a nice refresher of
dealing with grabs and chokes. Wr comes off as rather dapper, dressed in a
sport jacket as he calmly dispatches his assailants in the bar. The DVD is
nicely shot and anybody can clearly see how a technique is applied and when to
use it. This DVD showcases Wr’s no
nonsense approach to taking care of business quickly and without a lot of
superfluous moves. His own philosophy is to teach anybody how to deal with
violent conflict by training smart and that doesn’t take years. He takes the
best of combatives and shows what works and shares his information freely both
through seminars and his website. I am
eager to see WR’s future DVD where he will show his system of knife defense and
offense. I am well acquainted with his knife work which I think greatly
simplifies how to use one and deal with one coming your way. Too many
instructors complicate combatives and that is why I believe WR is on the
cutting edge (no pun intended) of what works and what will get you home to your
loved ones at the end of the day. Though a short DVD it is priced accordingly,
and I highly recommend it.
